Aerial production with our telescopic pole
Although the resulting images are truely spectacular, flying a drone over a crowd or a public area is not a risk-free activity. Even if our drones are extremely reliable and we have never experienced a single problem during flight, a simple glitch in the system could potentially quickly turn into a disaster by injuring someone on the ground.
This is the exact reason why we developed our own aerial camera solution: the telescopic pole; a highly sophisticated camera system equipped with a retractable pole reaching more than 33 feet (10 meters) in length. Lifted by an operator and remotely controlled by a cameraman, the result is an ultra-mobile aerial camera platform capable of simulating breathtaking drone shots that feature an unimaginable proximity with the public, produced legally and above all; safely.

Video editing & montage
Consisting of selecting video segments and assembling them into a coherent suite using specialized softwares, editing is the post-production step that will determine the final quality of the video to be distributed or broadcast. If most modern home computers come with pre-installed simple and user-friendly video editing software, professional video editing requires the expertise of a qualified editing team equipped with the appropriate professional tools.
By providing you with a comprehensive range of complementary services, you’ll never need external expertise to get the finished product you’re looking for; we take care of everything, from elaboration to delivery. Finally gathered under one roof, you’re in control of all aspects of your video; another exclusive advantage of VuDuCiel.
Interviews & voice-over narration
Interviews and narrations are effective ways to convey an impressive amount of information to your audience while giving a touch of personality to your video, all without overloading the frame with text and visual elements which may interfere with the proper viewing of your images.
Often underestimated, the soundtrack and voice-over of a video have the potential to convey a clear and concise message. The use of quality microphones and sound processing tools will not guarantee a professional result; at VuDuCiel, it is our years of experience that allow us to deliver interviews and high-level voice-overs. Do you have anything to say to your interlocutors? Let our services put your speech in the spotlight with the studio-like quality recording it deserves.
Animations, graphics & titling
The animation is a technique that adds motion to a photo or a video while allowing for the addition of relevant information that could otherwise not be passed on to the audience. For its part, the term “graphics” refers to several techniques which aim at improving the graphical aspect of a video production. It applies to graphic charts, logos and inlays that personalize a video in order to give it a corporate or social identity. Finally, titling is the technique for adding text to a video production. This text, composed of keywords or complete sentences, can be static or animated, depending on the sought after effect.
All of these techniques are essential to a video that must convey a specific message or information. At VuDuCiel, we take the time to evaluate your needs and understand your project in order to animate, dress and titrate your video in an efficient and professional way.
Timelapse & hyperlapse
The timelapse is an accelerated video made using a technique which consists of taking photographs at a regular interval. Depending on the intervals selected for its production, a timelapse makes it possible to summarize in a few seconds an action that took place around a subject over a period of time whose duration can be estimated in minutes (the movement of a crowd), in hours (the displacement of the sun and clouds), in days (the installation of a temporary structure) and in months or even years (the construction of a building). It can either be produced at ground level on a tripod or from the air with one of our drones.
The hyperlapse is a modern evolution of the timelapse through which the camera moves physically in between each photograph in order to induce an additional movement in the sequence. These two techniques make it possible to truely highlight a subject and our team will be more than happy to put them into practice to enhance yours!
Although a photograph can be directly put online after its capture, its manipulation is generally preferable in order to get the best of what it has to offer. In its most simplistic form, photo retouching makes it possible to modify the general parameters of a photograph such as brightness, contrast and color saturation in a way to improve its appearance.
At VuDuCiel, we consider that photo retouching is an art in itself and that it should never be taken lightly. All the photographs displayed on our website have been more or less intensively modified by our team before being displayed online and it is a complementary service that we can offer you in a way adapted to your needs.
Since an image is worth a thousand words, we invite you to watch this video sample to better understand the general steps involved in the retouching of a photography in order to make it more visually appealing.
High dynamic range photography (HDR)
Also known as high-dynamic-range imaging, HDR photography is a digital technique that produces a large dynamic range in an image. Its interest is to capture a greater amount of luminance levels in an image. The aim is to present a similar range of luminance to that experienced through the human visual system. In the particular case of a drone, producing an HDR photograph is done by taking several pictures of the same scene at different exposure values (exposure bracketing) and then merging them using specialized software. The result is a sublime image capable of representing a very high level of detail, both in the dark areas normally too dim (shadows) and for light areas that are generally too bright (sky and reflections).

Frequently asked questions
Many factors such as payload, weather conditions and aggressiveness of flight can influence the capacities of our UAS fleet.
In a normal situation, our drone platforms dispose of continuous autonomies ranging from 8 to 20 minutes in hover flight. In general, it is important to respect a set limit of 80% of the maximum autonomy of flight to allow for the safe conduct of takeoff and landing procedures. Since our drones are running on an electrical system, we only have to make a quick change of battery packs to immediately return in flight.
No matter the circumstances, we will always respect the flight time you have been allocated with your plan.
Weighing less than 35kg, our drones have the advantage of being subjected to far fewer flight regulations than larger aircrafts. For security reasons, it is important to not exceed a ceiling of 400′ (120 meters) without a valid reason. If necessary, all of our aircrafts can fly as high and for as long as their autonomy will allow, previously taking care to forewarn the authorities in charge.
If you have specific needs about the target altitude to reach, contact us to let us know about it.
Under ideal conditions, our drones can reach top speeds of over 80km/h and ascent and descent speeds of 25km/h.
Like any flying object, the trajectory of a RC drone can be greatly influenced by wind and air currents. Larger than most other multirotor drones on the market, our drone platforms have the advantage of being able to fly in winds up to 45km/h. Before any aerial work, it is important to take a reading of the wind speeds to ensure the safety of everybody around.
A radio controlled UAS mostly consisting of several sensitive electronic parts, rain and heavy snowfalls are also factors which will unfortunately prevent our fleet from leaving the ground.
The operation of a drone is vulnerable to weather conditions that are, in turn, obviously out of our control. Therefore, it is impossible for us to absolutely guarantee the ability of our aerial platforms to execute their intented purposes in outdoor environments at a specific date and time several days in advance.
Yes, it is possible to fly inside any area with an open space large enough for the safe conduct of aerial operations. Stadiums, arenas, gymnasiums, libraries and shopping centers are just a few examples.
If the building is equipped with a door or a large enough opening like a garage door, it is even possible to fly our drones from inside to outside or from outside to inside in one single continuous flight, giving you an incredible artistic freedom.
To fly a multirotor with exposed propellers directly over a crowd is a risky and very dangerous activity. Although our UAS are extremely reliable and we have never experienced a single problem during flight, a simple glitch in the system could potentially quickly turn into a disaster by injuring someone on the ground. This is obviously the kind of situation we want to avoid at all costs.
However, these kind of requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact us to better explain your project to us and to discuss of the risk factors it involves. Often, we can offer you with some really interesting aerial shooting alternatives like our telescopic pole.
We strongly advise that you never do business with a company that will blindly accept to fly a drone over a crowded area. In addition to being a condemned practice by the Transport Canada aviation regulations, any person engaging in this type of activity demonstrates excessive risk-taking behaviour and very little regard for the safety of others.
Although the propulsion system of our drones is entirely electric, their propellers in rotation at high speeds produce a characteristic sound which resembles the one of a revved up weed eater. Generally, the higher the mass, the noisier a drone becomes.
If you plan on using one of our drones for aerial imagery on a set where there will also be a sound capture, the noise level emitted by the rotating propellers is indeed a factor that you must be aware of and which is to be considered in your approach. In such circumstances, you should prioritize one of our smaller platforms.
